This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems in Huntsville, Alabama requires a Systems Engineer to perform end-to-end analysis of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) supporting the systems engineering process for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Analyses will be performed utilizing large-scale complex BMDS modeling and simulation (M&S) tools applying discrimination techniques using multi-target tracking with multi-sensor correlation algorithms. Individual will also perform model development, updates, and benchmarking/anchoring of BMDS M&S tools, as necessary, to support system analysis tasks. Individual may also assist in requirements development related to discrimination. Individual will coordinate analysis activities and products with functional group leads. The individual will document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to the Missile Defense Agency Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives.
Experience modeling and analyzing BMDS. Individual must have a technical background in statistical modeling and some algorithm experience using MATLAB and any of the following: EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, missiles/interceptors, threats, discrimination, detection/tracking, fire control, or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.). Experience analyzing complicated physics problems using medium- to high-fidelity parametric models/simulations utilizing Monte Carlo techniques to provide insight into performance capabilities of real-world weapon systems. Experience developing or verifying system requirements. Individual must possess good written and oral communication skills to include giving presentations. Capable of working both independently and in a team environment.
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, a related technical field, or the equivalent experience is required. Degree and experience in an engineering classification, mathematics or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
