Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Hardware Systems Lead / Module Design Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



Senior Hardware Systems Lead / Module Design Engineers research, design, develop, and integrate information processing avionics hardware to operate in a harsh military environment. 


The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading cross-functional teams of electrical, mechanical, and integration and test engineers with the implementation of state of the art multi-core systems
  • Designing of circuit card assemblies based on the system hardware requirements
  • Selection of electronic components
  • Implementation of the schematic design
  • Directing the layout and routing of printed wiring boards
  • Performing design analysis/simulation
  • Supporting system integration. 
  • Evaluating system performance
  • Writing test plans and directing testing
  • Writing design documentation.
  • Transforming customer objectives and system requirements into compliant designs


  • Processor Module Design Experience
    • X86 processor (XEON class) design
  • X86 memory design
    • DDR3
    • DDR4
  • FPGA module design
    • Xilinx (mandatory)
    • Intel (aka Altera)
  • Knowledgeable on high speed interface design
    • PCI3 Gen3
    • Ethernet – 10/40Gbps, 25/50/100 Gbps
    • SATA
    • 1553
    • PCIe
    • VME64
    • VITA46
    • Fibre Channel
  • Fundamental knowledge of high speed signal designs
  • Tools Experience:
    • Mentor Graphics DxDesigner
    • Hyperlynx


  • Extensive experience with complex multi-core microprocessor avionics designs
  • Requirements management in DOORS
  • Active Secret Level DOD Clearance 


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
