Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 15 years of demonstrated leadership including 7-10 years of experience in direct sales of transactional federal sales, with demonstrable technical acumen in the network security domain, at least 4 years of which include managing direct sales teams.



Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. The individual selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems is looking for a dynamic and proven Director of Sales to manage, grow and create a world-class federal sales team supporting our fast paced, hyper focused, world class product company, the GD MS Cyber and Electronic Warfare business area. This position requires a articulate, high energy, technically savy hands-on leader who is interested in building a fast paced transactional sales team.




  • Leading an established high performing sales team, drives CEWS financial success, through the development and execution of the CEWS federal sales vision and strategy. More specifically:
    • Establishes accurate sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
    • Develops new accounts and expands sales opportunities within existing accounts
    • Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
    • In collaboration with the Product Marketing team develops and implements federal sales programs and fields sales programs.
    • Builds and leads a top rated national account management team in the attainment of individual and team sales goals.
    • Drives the collection of sales/customer data to foster the implementation of a data driven organization. Generates and maintains accurate Account and Opportunity plans
    • Analyzes pipeline and lead data, deliver periodic reporting to the sales and marketing teams providing key business insights: typical reporting relates to Demand Generation, Pipeline Forecast and Trends, Conversion Rates, Target Account, Market Segmentation, Win/Loss, Age.
    • Establishes a strong communication channel with Marketing and other key stakeholders, to ensure timely communication of product and market feedback.
    • Participates in the new product development and the growth of the CEWS business 



  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the US federal network security market, acquisition regulations, and competitive landscape; with a demonstrated ability to convert this knowledge into winning sales strategies.
  • Demonstrated closing capability and track record of growing profitable sales
  • Keen business sense; finds and effectively communicates creative business solutions.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills; able to create analytics and derive strategies based on data and trends
  • Demonstrable skills in coaching and developing sales professionals.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present information to various audiences
  • Strong motivational skills
  • Demonstrable proficiency in CRM systems
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to understand contractual legal language
  • Strong influencing and listening skills
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
