Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology/related field is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.


A Department of Defense Secret clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire date. An active Secret clearance is preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Oracle Database Administrator.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.



  • Engineer database solutions based on technical requirements from development teams
  • Design and define logical attributes, interrelationships and data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility
  • Assist application developers with database aspects of development (database object creation, SQL tuning, etc.)
  • Implement and enforce security mechanisms, including Oracle Label Security (OLS), for the Oracle 12c databases
  • Execute tasks such as backup, recovery, replication, testing and auditing to ensure the integrity of the system’s data
  • Roll-out new application code/builds in various development and production Oracle 12c environments
  • Participate in teams that study data problems, execute trade studies, and resolve identified problem(s)
  • Analyze and determine customers’ data management needs, storage requirements and data output and reporting capabilities
  • Develop policies, procedures, and standards
  • As needed, provide troubleshooting, operational and maintenance support of deployed Oracle 12c on-site databases
  • Possibly be scheduled for on-site deployment support and may be required to apply production packages or perform maintenance operations during non-peak hours
