Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.  Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering,  or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.  


Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Software Engineering Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of software and systems products in a UNIX, Linux and/or Windows-based workstation environment. 

The Cyber Security Intern should have the following experience: 

  • Software development experience in one or more languages such as C, C++, .NET, Java, Python
  • Windows operating system experience such as Windows 7, 8.1, 10, or server OS
  • Microsoft Office applications experience (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Social media experience (Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
  • Interest in learning about cyber security in an operations environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to organize information and produce good documentation of your results

Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Nice to have knowledge, skills and abilities: 

  • Knowledge of computer hardware such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc.
  • System administration of computer hardware
  • Knowledge of security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection, etc.
