  • Basic Qualifications

    The Business Area Director position requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical or business related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership. Product Management or PMP Certification is a plus.

     

    TS/SCI clearance required at time of hire. Polygraph is preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

     

    Required knowledge and experience in the following areas: 

    • Experience in the development of space-borne or avionics encryption products.
    • Demonstrable product management experience in the military or commercial space market.
    • Demonstrated go-to-market experience with resulting product sales.
    • Candidate must have a vision and be able to clearly share that vision with others
    • Candidate must possess strong leadership skills in people management, program execution, team building, and customer relationship management and business development.
    • Demonstrable change management skills, able to lead an organization through change.
    • Proven skills identifying and growing new business and developing long-term strategic plans for growth.
    • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communications and negotiation skills for a wide variety of technical and non-technical audiences including senior stakeholders.
    • Strong knowledge of financial reports, business and operational metrics to ensure maximum business impact to drive optimal decision-making.
    • Candidate must have a proven track record of developing trusted customer relationships

    The Cyber and Electronic Warfare Systems (CEWS) Line of Business of General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Business Area Director to lead all aspects of its Space and Avionics Encryption Programs business. As an integral part of the leadership team the Business Area Director must be able to lead and inspire their team, responsible for continued growth of a $70M+ portfolio comprised of several critical, leading edge encryption programs, innovative products and a highly skilled team supporting IC and other customers in the space and avionics markets. They should expect and inspire high levels of performance by the team. This person should have experience leading the deployment of capabilities to support mission critical systems worldwide for our national assets and should be knowledgeable of the space, avionics and related Cyber Security markets. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in product management and production programs. Proven experience in the broad military and commercial space and avionics markets is critical. We seek proven leaders, capable of coalescing a team to execute short and long-term plans for the organization. Demonstrable skills in product management,  program management, strategy development and execution, and business development, customer relations, financial management are required. The Business Area Director is responsible for ensuring successful program execution, business area growth through the development of new products, award of new contracts, and achievement of operating targets, with a high-level of proficiency in applicable technical concepts. This individual will have at least 15 years of demonstrated leadership, preferably including defense contracting, and successful management of at least $50 million a year in sales.
