Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Department of Defense Secret Clearance at time of hire and a Top Secret level clearance is required within 24 months of hire.. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
General Dynamics Mission Systems in Huntsville, Alabama requires a Systems Engineer with a strong technical background in various sensors, interceptors and/or discrimination. Candidate should have a background in the development of analytical tools and numerical modeling of complex systems using MATLAB or a similar computing environment. Expect strong communication skills. Candidate should have education and experience commensurate with that of an experienced analyst capable of working independently and with minimal supervision. Candidate should be capable of assuming a lead role in analyses and coordinating the efforts with other subject matter experts. Individual may perform as a principal investigator. Individual may lead analysis teams. Ballistic missile defense experience with emphasis on modeling and in state estimation and tracking is a plus.
Individual must have a technical background in numerical modeling and simulation, using a high level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, or similar language environment, and any of the following: EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, missiles/interceptors, threats, discrimination, detection/tracking or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.). Individual must possess good communication skills. Candidate must be capable of working both independently and in a team environment. Candidates applying for positions requiring discrimination skills must be able to obtain a TS clearance.
Additional qualifications include;
PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, a related technical field, or the equivalent experience is required. Degree and experience in an engineering classification, mathematics or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD.
