  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Demonstrated experience in data recovery from damaged media
    • Experience with disassembling and reassembling electronic devices such as computers and associated peripherals, mobile devices, and gaming systems
    • Understanding of hard drive architecture and connection types
    • Understanding of cell phone architecture and Operating Systems
    • Manual dexterity and ability to work with small parts, solder, etc.
    • Possess Hard Drive and/or Cell Phone repair skills

    Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to obtain a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    Do you know how to repair damaged hard drives? Would you enjoy assisting military law enforcement with investigating suspected criminal activity? Then General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for you as a Forensic Imaging and Damaged Media Repair Specialist to support a Government contract in Linthicum, MD. 

     

    The selected candidate will: 

    • Handle evidence while maintaining the chain of custody
    • Conduct imaging and data extraction processes on a variety of media including hard drives, thumb drives, and memory cards
    • Conduct examinations on gaming systems and mobile devices
    • Conduct extraction from a variety of devices using advanced extraction techniques and processes including, but not limited to: DDI Data Recovery, Chip-Off, Encryption Bypass, Component replacement or repair, and 2D/3D projective imaging (Xray machine)
    • Create detailed notes on processes undertaken
    • Inventory, disassemble, and reassemble a variety of hardware devices

     

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Familiarization with EnCase, dc3dd, Cellebrite UFED, Microsystemation XRY
    • Advanced troubleshooting skills
    • Familiarization with computer file systems
    • Familiarization with gaming consoles (PlayStation, XBOX  etc.)
    • Experience or understanding of cryptography and encryption schemas
    • Ability to operate both in a team setting as well as independently
    • Department of Defense Certified Digital Media Collector certification or eligibility for certification
    • Documentation experience
