  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

     

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    The qualified candidate must demonstrate favorable results in a leadership capacity within a Department of Defense (DoD) related industry or DoD acquisition executive. This position requires:

    • In-depth knowledge of advanced project/program management techniques and requires familiarity with federal acquisition regulations
    • Past proven ability to lead programs to meet current and long-term business strategies, ensuring execution of all phases of sustainment is required
    • Proven ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects throughout the lifecycle from proposal, development, production, logistics and lifecycle
    • Must be able to establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
    • Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends
    • Ability to understand and analyze program financial data
    • Ability to develop and execute proposal plans and strategies
    • Ability to apply advanced negotiation skills to solve internal, external and customer issues
    • Working Knowledge of MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
    • May be required to travel to support business needs
    • Will interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various level

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires a minimum of an active TS/SCI clearance. Must be willing and able to obtain a polygraph within a reasonable amount of time after hire, with acceptable timing determined by manager. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Program Manager.  The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

     

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Lead the program team to meet customer expectations within the scope of the contract
    • Lead the program team to meet the financial and business growth goals of the organization
    • Ensure all CDRLs are delivered on time
    • Effectively manage contract cost and schedule
    • Ensure both government and company stakeholders are fully aware of contract status and issues
    • Be responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
    • Ensure program timelines are consistent with contract requirements
    • Lead team to identify and quantify risks and opportunities; leads risk mitigation / opportunity capture activities
    • Assist with strategy development and program execution throughout the contract's lifecycle
    • Identify scope changes and develop cost and schedule estimates
    • Ensure plans, process and procedures are being followed with regards to licensing, intellectual property etc.
    • Develops customer relationships and develops new business within the market/program
    • Lead the program team to meet the financial and business growth goals of the organization
    • Think creatively and communicate ideas effectively
    • Conduct briefings and provide metrics as required by GDMS management
