  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or a related technical field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.


    Required Experience:

    Candidates must have at least 2 years of data modeling experience and 2 years of experience with SAS, SPSS, R, or similar data programming language/environment.

    • Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, MongoDB, Neo4J, etc.
    • Experience with or knowledge of distributed environments such as HDFS/Hadoop, Cloudera stack-Impala, Sqoop, Spark, etc.
    • Experience with or knowledge of Mathematical and Statistical Decision Support Models

    Clearance Requirements:

    A TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph is required at time of hire. Candidate must be able to obtain the Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Data Visualization Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design, develop and manage a variety of visualizations, equipment and systems solutions for GDMS and its clients.     Key Responsibilities
    Data Visualization Specialists conduct or participate in the research, design and development of data visualizations, software applications and/or tools for new programs and subprograms. Responsibilities also include enhancements, modifications and corrections to existing software/visualizations. In addition, these employees are responsible for coding, testing, integrating and documenting  solutions.


    Additional Responsibilities

    • Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance
    • Assist in the design and development of processes to extract data from existing databases and merge with new additional data to load into Big Data platforms
    • Make stored Big Data available in a timely and efficient manner
    • Assist in testing of decision support visualizations
    • Assist in the amelioration of data quality issues
    • Assist in the design, development, testing, and validation of statistical, mathematical, and simulation models
    • Apply agile software development methodologies such as Scrum in the performance of tasks
