    Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.


    US Navy Submarine AN/BYG-1 Fire Control Technician (FT) experience with Active Secret DoD Clearance is REQUIRED.  Due to the nature of work performed at our facilities, US citzenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    Job Description

    General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is looking for a former Fire Control Technician (FT) with at least 5 years of AN/BYG-1 experience to join our Systems Engineering Design Team. This position provides an opportunity to be on the cutting edge of developing the latest Fire Control systems. GDMS employees work closely with the Submarine Combat System community to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.


    Key Responsibilities

    Provide strong testing support for the AN/BYG-1 Tactical Control System (TCS). Provide subject matter expertise for the TCS Systems Engineering team developing software applications and tools for new and existing programs.


    Responsibilities include working with the team to help derive TCS system and subsystem level requirements and corresponding design. Strong documentation skills and strong time management skills are a must. This position includes supporting customer meetings and related tasking. This includes participation in weekly working groups to help design new capabilities and improvements leading up to program milestone reviews. Additional responsibilities include assisting with test procedures related to new design. Candidate must be able to grasp and apply new information quickly, demonstrate initiative on assignments and professionally execute projects with direction.


    Required Skills

    High proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

    Strong organizational skills

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Good understanding of the Systems Engineering process


    These skills are a PLUS

    Experience with Navy Submarine Design

    Experience working with the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS Community)

    Design experience within a Systems Engineering team

    Requirements Management database tool experience

    Experience with IBM Rational DOORS or Telelogic DOORS
