  • Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field is required (or equivalent experience), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

     

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is desired at the time of hire or obtainable in a reasonable period of time.  Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior AR/VR Software Engineer.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

    In this role, you will:

    • Work within an interdisciplinary product development team to design, develop and test AR systems
    • Develop AR training systems using gaming techniques and Machine Learning
    • Iterate and refine the product to improve design
    • Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
    • Develop and maintain automated unit and systems level tests
    • Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
    • Support and develop our technical culture by being engaged, intellectually curious, friendly, motivated to solve complex problems, and inspired to deliver superior user-centered design
    • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems

     

    Candidates should have demonstrated strengths and experience in some of the following areas:

    • Strong knowledge of Unity, scripting, textures, animations, GUI styles, and user session management
    • Experience developing for AR or VR platforms
    • 3D experience is a plus
    • Experience with game physics and particle systems
    • Familiarity with level design and planning
    • Computer science theory (e.g., data structures, algorithms, computational complexity)
    • Appreciation for user-centric design
    • The ability to develop clean, readable and maintainable code
    • Agile development experience
    • Full use and understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
    • Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
    • Effective communication and attention to detail

     

    Programming Skills:

    • Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
    • Solid object oriented programming and software design skills
    • Proficient in C# programming language

    Other beneficial experience:

    • Experience with version control systems (Git, Subversion, etc…)
    • Experience with SLAM algorithms
    • Experience with multiplayer games
    • Concurrent programming and building multi-threaded systems
    • Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning experience
    • Experience with Cloud Deployment
    • Experience with distributed systems
    • Prior experience with a well-known mobile title or AAA titles is a significant asset
    • Mobile development
    • HCI coursework



    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, SW Game Design or Computer Engineering plus 5 years relevant experience in AR/VR design.
