    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Department of Defense secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to support our growing aviation-related business segments, executing software development and integration for ground and airborne systems.  Primary responsibilities include developing and / or supporting integration of a variety of software components in mission command and safety critical environments.   The successful candidate will have prior experience with software integration, software engineering and complex systems architectures.   Previous experience working with DO-178 certification processes and real-time applications is desired.  The candidate must demonstrate the potential and willingness to acquire and develop additional skills as our portfolio increases.  This position may require occasional travel.  Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Representative Duties:

    • Perform Software Development in C / C++ in accordance with DO-178 development standard.  Additionally, may perform software development in C# in support of Army mission command systems.
    • Integration of separate software components into a single system.
    • Integrating applications on Windows and Unix/Linux platforms.
    • Development of software integration tests to validate component performance and conformance to design standards.
    • Operation within an Agile development methodology.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Prior software development experience in C or C++. Desired experience with C#.
    • Object oriented programming and software design skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Desired prior experience working with real-time safety critical software development, specifically DO-178 development and / or Real Time Operating Systems.
    • Exposure to the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) and / or Army Aviation safety critical software architectures.
    • Desired prior experience working in a model-based engineering methodology including exposure to UML / SysML using tools such as Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect and MagicDraw.
    • Exposure to requirements management with DOORS.
    • Familiar with systems development life cycle (SDLC) and configuration management tools such as JIRA, Rational Team Concert and Team Foundation Server.
    • Experience working with an Agile development environment.
    • Desired experience in automated software test development.
    • Effective communication and attention to detail.
    • Ability to multi-task.
    • Ability to work in a dispersed engineering team environment.
    • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and effectively handle complex assignments.
    • Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with oversight.

     


    PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
