  • Basic Qualifications


    • Circuit theory in analog and digital design principles and techniques.
    • Experience in electronics design of small electromechanical devices and packaging of electrical/electronic products.
    • Working knowledge of computer simulation and modeling tools such as Genesys and CST Microwave Studio.
    • Programming experience in C, Visual Basic, Python, Matlab, or similar programming languages.
    • Real world experience of Digital RF systems in the field.

    Education Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    Janteq is a growing and innovative division within General Dynamics Mission Systems. We are looking for a Senior RF/Microwave Engineer who will be overseeing all of the Janteq engineering efforts from a technical perspective and will report directly to the Engineering Director.


    This person will:


    Design, develop and implement Microwave/RF transceiver technologies for digital video and audio communication systems and their associated components for applications in the wireless broadcast industry.

    • The applicant will be involved in architecture, design and implantation of the many RF systems and subsystems that make up the radio products.


    General Responsibilities:

    • Apply knowledge of RF components and circuitry to the design and development of new products as well as product changes and enhancements.
    • Solve RF/microwave design engineering problems at the component through system level.
    • Lead and participate in all elements of the product development cycle, concept, design, prototyping, testing and documented sign-off for production.
    • Experience to navigate the Smith chart and transmission line theory, impedance matching, filter theory and S-parameters, with RF passive components such as Hybrid couplers, Wilkinson dividers, circulators, directional couplers, and antennas.
    • Experience with all aspects of an OFDM receiving and transmitter design chains.
    • Experience with envelope tracking, pre-distortion, Doherty power amplifiers up to 20 watts in power.
    • Comprehensive board-level skills include component selection, schematic capture, and layout on highly integrated multilayer designs. Familiarity with PCB tools, such as ALTIUM, ORCAD, etc.
    • Strong instrumentation skills with RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, vector network analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, function generators and other bench top analysis tools.
    • Provide engineering and technical support of products introduced into both the domestic and international markets.
    • Work with digital baseband engineers and antenna engineers to optimize the overall wireless system.
    • Should be self-motivated comfortable working both alone and as part of a team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is seeking a wide variety of projects.
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and strong decision-making, organizational skills with initiative.
    • Lead efforts with engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing, and quality assurance staff to coordinate pilot production of new products.
    • Highly motivated individual with good problem-solving skills and adapt to changing demands.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with Digital Video and Audio, including compression, MPEG, H.264, ASI and DVB-T based COFDM is a plus.
